School years have their own rhythm. What feels like the middle of the school year is really a convergence of beginnings and endings. While December marks the end of a calendar year, it only forewarns the end of the first semester… and for eighth graders, the end of the high school application season. There are two weeks remaining—that's nine precious school days and one weekend—to make the most of projects and essays and applications. Let's keep our eyes on the prize.
January 22, the return from a 4-day weekend, marks the fresh start for middle schoolers, who have much to look forward to this spring. There will be performance nights March 21& 22, travel week April 27-May 4 (8th grade), ocean study (7th grade), Hidden Villa overnight (6th grade), continuing service projects for all grades, dances/parties, PNOs, field trips, graduation, and more. With so much excitement lying ahead, it's important to approach the new term with good habits in place. The chill outside reminds me that it's winter, but the days are growing longer already. Spring–and new beginnings–are in the air. Welcome back.
